Naseej Executive President Honored at AFLI Conference

The Arab Federation for Libraries and Information (AFLI) has honored Eng. Abduljabbar Al-Abduljabbar, Executive President of Naseej, In recognition of the significant contribution made by Naseej in the field of libraries and information management. The honor was bestowed during the 22nd annual conference of the Federation, which was sponsored by President Omar Al-Bashir of Sudan, and hosted in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, between December 19th and 21st, 2011, under the theme "Information Systems and Services at Arab Information Institutions: Reality, Challenges and Aspirations."

The honor comes in recognition of Eng. Abduljabbar's efforts in developing the activities of libraries and the information industry, as well as his contributions in the field of training and mentoring students. Naseej has also been acclaimed for creating an atmosphere of partnership with libraries, and professional associations, and for its prominent role in achieving integration between a business mentality, on the one hand, and a partnership with science professionals and specialists, on the other hand.

Eng. Abduljabbar Al-Abduljabbar's honor comes in the context of honoring two other eminent Arab figures in this domain – namely: H.E. Faisal bin Muammar, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Secretary General of the King Abdul Aziz Center for National Dialogue and General Supervisor of the Library of King Abdul Aziz, Riyadh; and Prof. Dr. Ezz Boderban, Professor of Marketing at the Faculty of Management and Economics, University of Dohuk – in consideration of their efforts in the development of the activities of libraries and the information industry.

The honor awarded Eng. Abduljabbar is the latest of many honors and awards he has received during his 23-year career with AAS. Under his chairmanship, AAS has contributed to the development of the information industry and knowledge management in the Arab world through a wide range of innovative solutions provided to the community of beneficiaries in the region, and through significant projects carried out in partnership with both public and private institutions. Eng. Abduljabbar had received the ITP/Visa “Outstanding Personal Contribution Award” for his efforts and outstanding contributions to the knowledge and IT industry in the region.
