Naseej in Damascus International Fair

Damascus, Syrian Arab Republic – August 2025

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s participation as Guest of Honor at the Damascus International Fair 2025, Naseej for Technology held an official meeting with the Syrian Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Marwan Halabi, attended by senior ministry officials, and coordinated by the Saudi Ministry of Investment.

Saudi Partnership to Support Digital Transformation in Syria

The meeting was attended from the Saudi side by Mr. Abdul Salam Al-Tuwaijri (Saudi Ministry of Investment), Mr. Osama Al-Beik (Naseej for Technology), and Ms. Reema Assaf (Naseej – Jordan). On the Syrian side, participants included ministry officials and the Vice President of the Syrian Virtual University.

During the discussions, Naseej showcased its expertise in digital transformation for higher education through its flagship Medad Cloud Platform, which has been officially recognized as a Saudi technology by the Saudi Export Development Authority. Medad offers integrated solutions for academic administration and admissions, e-learning and blended learning, quality assurance and accreditation, training management, and library and research services.

Key Discussion Points

The dialogue focused on several national priorities for Syrian higher education, including:

  • Establishing centralized examination centers across provinces using offline systems, ensuring quality, security, and rapid results, following Saudi and Emirati models.
  • Enhancing digital and blended learning by expanding platforms such as Moodle and integrating AI-driven analytics through Medad, including early warning systems for at-risk students.
  • Advancing research and academic libraries through digital indexing, institutional repositories, and integration with global databases such as IEEE, EBSCO, and Scopus, aimed at raising the international rankings of Syrian universities.

Towards a Knowledge Economy and a Sustainable Future

The Syrian Minister of Higher Education emphasized that investment in education is the cornerstone for rebuilding Syria and establishing a strong knowledge economy. Both parties agreed to hold a follow-up technical workshop with Syrian universities and Naseej experts to define detailed requirements and build a joint action plan.

On this occasion, a Naseej representative stated, “We consider this meeting a strategic step towards supporting Syrian universities in their journey of digital transformation and rebuilding education. By leveraging the Kingdom’s expertise and Naseej’s regional experience, we aim to build partnerships that deliver high-quality education, strengthen global competitiveness, and contribute to a more innovative and sustainable future for Syria and the Arab region.”
