King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is launching a new era in scientific discovery in the region with focus on research and innovation.

KAUST library is an essential driver for KAUST new era fulfillment. The objective of the library is to move beyond the traditional function of collecting publications to managing them effectively and create an environment for knowledge within the University. KAUST librarians will establish a new paradigm for state- of – the – art librarianship and knowledge management.
In this context, KAUST library is implementing a library RFID project that will enable staff to better achieve their goals and meet their users‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎ expectations by offering users self- service and enjoying excellent collection managements and library operations.
Procurement process led by ARAMCO and Saudi Oger resulted in awarding the project to Naseej to implement 3M RFID solution at KAUST academic and community library.

Abdulaljabbar A. Al- Abduljabbar, Naseej CEO said that KAUST will be the first University in the region to offer book dispensers –an automated book dispending machines that will operate as a mobile library and host hundreds of library materials (DVD and Books)
Abduljabbar added that KAUST also will be the first university in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to offer automated book drop service where books are dropped in the library and instantaneously shown as available in the library OPAC enabling other users to benefit from them.

He added that with 60 days to deliver, Arabian Advanced Systems accepted the challenge to deliver and operate the solution making it ready for the grand opening of the KAUST under patronage of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdul-Aziz on Sep 23 2009.
