His Royal Highness the Governor of Aseer region, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, inaugurated the 13th Annual Book and Computer Fair, organized by the Deanship of Library Affairs at King Khalid University, Abha, KSA, on October 20–30, 2014, in collaboration with Naseej, the Arab world’s leading provider of Knowledge Management Solutions and Diamond Sponsor of the fair.

More than 40 local publishers, 25 government bodies, and a significant number of NGOs and technology and library solutions providers participated in the fair.

Naseej showcased its Meded direct acquisition system for collection development in Arabic libraries. Medad combines technical architectures with the requirements for new-title search and selection. The system provides Arabic libraries with a flexible, effective and year-long collection development mechanism that enables all stakeholders – faculty, heads of departments, and librarians – to take part in the acquisition process. This strategy, unique to each institution, provides a qualitative leap in Arabic collections development, as well as making available related services, such as the acquisition of selected books and their bibliographic records in compliance with the latest international standards and the highest quality levels.

Naseej was honored by H.R.H. Prince Faisal bin Khalid, and received the Diamond Sponsor Trophy presented by King Khalid University, in recognition of its contribution to the fair and the services it provides to academic libraries and institutions across the Kingdom.
