The Second Saudi University CIO Forum was held in Abha Palace, Aseer, KSA, from 21 – 22 May 2013 with the participation of 20 Saudi Universities. The Forum was organized by King Khalid University in collaboration with International Data Corporation (IDC), the premier global provider of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for information technology, telecommunications and consumer technology markets.
 
The Forum discussed various themes, including Strategies for Higher Education Institutions, Mobile and Wireless Technologies on Campus, Big Data, Big Opportunity, Charting the University Cloud Journey and Maneuvering the IT Security and Open Access Balancing.
 
Mr. Usama Al-Baik – Naseej Academic Services and E-Learning Business Manager and keynote speaker in the Forum – delivered a presentation entitled :”Learning Analytics Uncover Great Opportunities to Help Students Succeed”. In his presentation, Mr. Usama elaborated on how a university’s e-learning program can achieve student success while maintaining quality and maximizing the investment returns. In fact, Academic institutions employ Learning analytics to identify students that need assistance, help understand learning tool usage patterns and better enhance academic continuous quality improvement.
