Manamah, Bahrain, The University of Bahrain recently launched its e-Library services aimed at enabling students, faculty and researchers to easily access the university’s library services anytime and from anywhere. Dr. Ebrahim Janahi, President of the University of Bahrain commented on the launch of the university’s e-Library services by saying that the University of Bahrain is committed to further developing its IT systems and infrastructure and to provide information services based on cutting edge technologies. Dr. Janahi further commented that the new e-Library services are part of the strategic objectives of the university and is considered an effective contribution by the University of Bahrain to support the spread of knowledge and information in society.

From his side, Mr. Hadi Altalbi, library Director at The University of Bahrain, said that the new services enable self-service borrowing and provides access to the library portal via smart phones, whereby students and researchers can now access more than 25,000 journals online, 80,000 e-books, and over 1 million full-text dissertations directly from the library portal; all of which will provide a major boost to scientific research and electronic learning. Currently students can access the library catalog online and view the tables of contents of books, in addition to renewing their borrowed items, which is done through personalized accounts for students and researchers.

The new e-Library services launched by The University of Bahrain was developed by Naseej, the regions leader in library solutions and services, and the provider of the Symphony Library Management System, the world’s leading library management system.
