Naseej for Technology, a leading provider of digital transformation solutions, recently concluded its participation as a diamond sponsor at the 26th Annual Conference and Exhibition of the Special Libraries Association / Arabian Gulf Chapter (SLAAGC), which took place from March 7 to 9 – 2023 in Kuwait. The event, held under the theme “Emerging Technologies and Applications in Libraries and Information Institutions,” provided Naseej with an opportunity to showcase its latest solutions for Libraries and Cultural centers.

At the conference, Naseej shocased its flagship product, MEDAD Library Services Platform (LSP), which offers a cloud of integrated services that enables libraries to manage and make available its physical, digital, and electronic holdings through a single portal providing patrons a unified user experience and journey, enabling libraries to keep up with the expectations and needs of today’s tech-savvy users.

Naseej also unveiled “Furhat,” the social robot during the conference, which was a major hit among conference attendees. Furhat is a highly advanced social robot with a human face, designed to interact with users in a natural and intuitive way. The Furhat robot has the distinctive capacity to understand emotions and respond to people in real-time, making it a highly effective solution for a wide range of applications – from customer service and education to entertainment and beyond.

In addition to showcasing its products, Naseej participated in this year’s conference with a group of its partners, including Media Info, EXPM, Bibliotheca, Hublet, in addition to professional information resources providers such as IEEE, and AskZad.

Prior to the conference, Naseej Academy (a not-for-profit initiative from Naseej) sponsored and organized the two pre-conference workshops held on March 6th, 2023. The first workshop, entitled “Basics of Metadata Design Using the RDF Resource Description Framework Standard,” provided participants with a comprehensive overview of metadata design. The second workshop, “Modern Trends in Data Management, Governance, and Utilization,” covered emerging trends in data management. Naseej also held another session on the first day of the conference (March 7th) entitled “MEDAD – Investing in Ideas.”

Mr. Abdullah Al-Turaifi, Naseej’s Executive Vice President, emphasized the importance of the conference hosted by the Special Libraries Association / Arabian Gulf Chapter, and the vital role it plays in supporting the library and information sector in the GCC, as well as promoting awareness of the significance of libraries and information centers in the Arab World. “As a diamond sponsor of the conference, Naseej reaffirms its commitment to supporting the library and cultural sector in its digital transformation journey”. Mr. Turaifi further also added “The event gave us an opportunity to demonstrate to our clients how MEDAD Library Services Platform represents a qualitative leap in library management software through its ability to provide a unique experience for patrons, researchers, students, and library staff”.

The Special Libraries Association is a non-profit global organization that was established in 1909 to develop and enhance the capabilities of information specialists and their strategic partners, serving 9,000 members from 75 countries. The Arabian Gulf Chapter was established in 1992 and holds its annual conference in one of the Gulf Arab countries each year, where the Chapter’s professional members manage and supervise its programs. The Special Libraries Association aims to develop the professional relationship between information specialists in the region, enhance and raise the levels of libraries and information centers to face the challenges of the profession, respond to the requirements of the profession and the needs of libraries and information specialists, and organize annual meetings and conferences for information specialists in the Gulf region, as well as planning and preparing educational programs such as workshops, lectures, and specialized seminars.
